Principles of Effective Laboratory Management
Recorded On: 10/15/2020
Career advancement from lab manager to director and even senior executive requires a set of knowledge and skills that are not taught in histotechnology school. These are advanced techniques that will enable you to begin visualizing strategic trends to set your lab up for success five or ten years down the road. This workshop will begin by imparting knowledge to better understand financial management, which will help you better influence senior executives who may not be histotechnology professionals. These constructs will include financial statement analysis, capital and funding strategies, and financial risk assessment. We will then follow with imparting competencies for effective organizational and HR management, such as conflict resolution, negotiation, decision making, and problem solving. This session will finish with a section devoted to the principles of Continuous Quality Improvement - using discrete systems and statistical tools to help you better solve problems and improve your laboratory.

Jason Molnar, HT(ASCP), QIHC(ASCP)
Mr. Molnar is seasoned histologist currently serving in the role of Histology Manager at AdventHealth Labs Orlando (previously known as Florida Hospital). I've been working in histology labs since 2003, learning the profession from the ground up. I've progressed in roles from lab assistant, bench tech, lead tech, supervisor, to manager. I've also had the privilege of working in some great organizations, from small specialty labs with just a few teammates to very large reference labs with more than a hundred on the technical staff. I'm passionate about histology, quality improvement methodologies, and leadership. In my current role I get to combine all of these passions into what I do.
