Often when you are tasked with creating a quality management program or even just monitoring and improving quality, it can seem daunting. Knowing where to begin, what to monitor, how to monitor and what metrics to us can make many not even want to try. In this presentation, we will discuss CAP requirements of a Quality Management Plan, how to select quality metrics, where to find quality benchmarks and a step-by-step guide on how to bring about change using quality monitoring.

Elizabeth Krauth is currently a supervisor for the histology department at Emory University Hospital. Emory University Hospital has a long tradition of histology excellence and innovative research within Anatomic Pathology. The department was hit hard in 2020 and began to develop workflow and quality issues as well as loss of many employees. Coming into this position was part of a restructuring of the department and she was tasked with decreasing turnaround time, turnover and stabilization of many quality issues.
