This session will review the individual requirements for compliance within the CAP guidelines, and discuss how to develop an annual program for competency assessment as well as training. Participants will learn how to determine all areas of interaction between histotechnologist and patient specimen such as accessioning, core histology, and special procedures; then create a program specific to not only basic histology competency, but also the methods and procedures specific to your laboratory. We will also cover how to use this type of annual assessment to develop a SWOT analysis to identify the overall strengths and liabilities of your staff.
